In February 2014, Chen Zeping began his career at the Wujin Stainless Steel Pipe Welding Shop, starting in plasma welding. Under the guidance of his mentor, he learned basic operations, gained experience, and gradually mastered the position. Due to production needs, he transferred to the submerged arc welding position and has remained there since. With his dedication and love for his work, he has continued to grow in the welding shop, honing his skills and becoming a key member of the team.

 

 

2016 was a key turning point in Chen Zeping's career. The company was preparing to obtain "Welding Pipe Nuclear Grade II and III Manufacturing Licenses," requiring the training of professional nuclear power welders. Chen Zeping was selected for his solid technical skills and positive attitude. To master the theoretical knowledge, the company hired experienced teachers. He fully immersed himself, listening attentively and reviewing materials repeatedly, successfully passing the theoretical exam. However, the practical operation was extremely difficult. The strict standards of single-sided welding with double-sided formation, anti-deformation, and weld appearance created immense pressure. To overcome these challenges, the company arranged for them to receive intensive training at a welding training center out of town. Chen Zeping knew this was a rare opportunity and actively adjusted his mindset to meet the challenge. To save materials, they reused the welded test plates for training. During that time, he focused on training, repeatedly refining his welding techniques and parameter adjustments. After a month of hard work, he passed the assessment through perseverance and hard training, obtaining his nuclear power welder qualification certificate. Subsequently, he participated in the production of nuclear power welding pipe simulation components, helping the company successfully obtain the license. This experience made him realize that craftsmanship lies not only in skill improvement but also in the belief of "turning the impossible into possible."

 

 

For many years, Chen Zeping has actively fulfilled his responsibility of "passing on and helping others," mentoring three apprentices and teaching them submerged arc welding and automatic gas tungsten arc welding techniques. He knows that cultivating qualified stainless steel pipe technicians requires establishing three types of awareness: safety, quality, and 6S. Safety is the red line that cannot be crossed at any time; ensuring the safety of oneself and others is the top priority. Quality is life; every weld must withstand inspection, as it affects the product's lifespan and reliability. 6S is the foundation; a good working environment and standardized operating procedures help improve work efficiency and product quality. Only by keeping these three concepts in mind and putting them into action can one take root and grow in the welding field, gradually becoming an excellent industry craftsman.

To young people just starting out, Chen Zeping wants to say that once you choose this profession, you should base it on love. Treat each pipe with care, treating it like a work of art, striving for perfection in every weld. Immerse yourself fully, and your profession will reward you with growth and pride. He hopes that through his experience, more young people will see that stainless steel pipe welding, with technological updates and iterations, has integrated many modern technologies and innovative elements, making it worth dedicating oneself to and flourishing in.

At Wujin Stainless Steel, Chen Zeping has persevered and strived for 11 years, using his welding torch as a tool to practice the original intention of a worker, creating a remarkable story, setting an example, and inspiring frontline employees to shine in their ordinary positions, contributing to the company's development.
